# Getting Started with V-Nova PresenZ Player

Use V-Nova PresenZ Player to build and view PresenZ shots and sequences in VR. The player supports basic finishing adjustments and performance monitoring. Use its overlays and graphs to diagnose playback and rendering issues.

### Introduction

V-Nova PresenZ Player is a compact application for building and viewing PresenZ-based VR shots. It provides utilities for working with PresenZ files. It also includes performance graphs for diagnosing issues and improving playback.

### UI overview

V-Nova PresenZ Player has a focused interface. Access its actions from the **Movie**, **View**, and **Performance** menus.

### Supported media

The primary media type is <mark style="color:blue;">.prz</mark>. This losslessly compressed format is generated from <mark style="color:blue;">.przRender</mark> files. It supports efficient playback in the player.\

## Movie

### Open and load media

Load media by dragging files into the workspace. Alternatively, select **Movie** → **Open**. The file browser lets you add files or open a <mark style="color:blue;">.przToc</mark> file for editing.

### Builder

Use the Builder to create and test shots. It automatically adds files dropped into the workspace. The Builder saves the scene as a <mark style="color:blue;">.przToc</mark> file. See [File formats and structures in V-Nova PresenZ](broken://spaces/i6eg1dFhczcq6mxQYODq/pages/o95AgbmklULmM7R1WCsv) for file-type details. The Builder header shows the file location and common directory.

Added files appear in the **Files** section. Assemble the shot in the **Scene** section. This layout reflects the PresenZ three-stage construction. Drag files into the appropriate section.

**FG**: (Foreground) The Animated PresenZ Volumetric layer\
**BG:** (Background) The static PresenZ volumetric layer\
**Env**: The 360 environment sphere image or video layer<br>

### Movie info

View the number of frames and scenes, the current position, and file locations. Use this window to quickly identify sequence and frame numbers when investigating artifacts.

### Scene info

View information about the current scene. Create, remove, and switch scenes in the Builder. You can also use keyboard shortcuts.

View the current layers, particle counts, motion vectors, compression, and format.

### Inspect particles

Use this window with motion vectors to inspect particles and asset density. Enable the debug sky to replace the background with bright purple. This helps confirm that the PresenZ render contains complete geometry.

### Adjust scene

Make scene-level adjustments that persist until you reopen the movie. Rotate a background HDRI and adjust sound positioning. You can also set the viewing perspective before playback. This lets you position and rotate the VR agent away from the origin.

### Post-processing

Apply minor effects and adjustments to every scene. Available controls include fog, glow, brightness, and depth of field. These settings persist until you reopen the player.

### Shader tweaks

This developer feature supports adjustments to custom shaders in the player. It is covered in the advanced documentation and is not intended for standard use.

### Camera position

Copy values between cameras. This helps maintain a consistent viewpoint between shots and avoids jarring cuts. Use it to check the current camera position across multiple shots.

## Performance

### Frame loader

View the frames currently loaded in the buffer and the playback frame rate. If the top bars reach the warning lines, the decoded-frame buffer may decrease.

### Audio

View the current audio and its load time. Use this information to diagnose sound issues.

View the current render speed and active processing. Use the graph to analyse dropped frames and slow playback.

### Frame Graph

View the high, low, and average playback frame rates. You can also send this information to the log. The window shows the number of accumulated frames at the top. Enable **Report to log**, then use **Pause** to capture data between log entries.
